Puppy Shoot Aussie’s – Border Collies

Puppy Shoot

Originally published in August 2018, refreshed in 2026.

A few weeks ago, during a walk with Yaz, I met the owner of two beautiful dogs: a purebred Australian Shepherd and an Aussie – Border Collie mix. And the best part: the mix was pregnant! With a purebred Border Collie as the dad… oh dear, what beautiful puppies those would be 🐶

We met a few more times and agreed on a puppy shoot. Something different from a Common Sandpiper or a jumping spider, right? 😄

My very first puppy shoot

And this week I had an amazing opportunity: one shoot at three weeks old, with a second one to follow when the little monsters are six to seven weeks. It was my very first shoot with puppies. Before the shoot I visited twice, just to get to know the puppies, their mum and the location. This first time, we simply shot at home.

Have you ever seen ten blue-eyed puppies crawling around? 💙 Some of the three-week-olds were already challenging each other, showing teeth that weren’t even there yet!

It was hard, but so much fun. They moved around all the time, almost as if they knew some idiot was trying to take their picture 😅 After about an hour I had them all, and I’m already looking forward to the next shoot at six weeks. That will be a challenge for sure!

And mum? She had clearly seen it all before. While I was crawling around on the floor with my camera, she found a cool spot in the shade and simply took a nap 😴
