Gear

The start

For making photo’s, through the years, I used different gear such as my phones and several other cameras.

My first camera, though, was a Minolta X300S.
I used it for years but then the digital age steps in and everything changed.
This camera was neglected for years and I sold it in the end. Due to ageing, it was also not working any more. After a while, I’d regret the decision of selling it.

But I found one again, in good working shape, together with a Rubimat 35mm f/2.8.
An Ilford Delta 400 was placed in it in no time 😀

Nikon

Favourite

My absolute favourite, when I picked this hobby again, was my DSLR Nikon-D7200 together with a kit lens AF-P DX Nikkor 18-55 mm f/3.5-5.6 G

Speaking for myself, the use of this camera is an absolutely natural thing. It has the perfect grip for me and the menu and the control during use are so easy.
I don’t have a comparison with other DSLR‘s or system camera’s in the same or the full-frame range though. Obviously, there will better ones.

In years after picking up the hobby again, I gathered quite some different lenses for the D7200’s.
I used the site of Ken Rockwell a lot to get guidance on what is the (practically) best lens to use for me.

I own the Nikor AF-S 50 mm f/1.8, AI AF zoom-Nikkor 80-200 mm f/2.8 DE, a AF Nikkor 70-210mm f/4 and the Tamron 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6
Also, a Nikkor 500 mm mirror lens is one of them.

Fujifilm

Great News

Somewhere in 2018, the Fujifilm X-T3 came in the news.
I already watched quite some Youtube posts from Theoria Apophasis for information on the several Nikon gear but also for the X-T3 when it was released.

Man, was I excited about this one.

Obviously, it is a totally different camera compared to the Nikon D7200.
Mirrorless, the new techniques of nowadays, etc. Yes, totally different.

In December 2018 the Fujifilm Cashback action started over here.
Several promotion sales I couldn’t resist and there I went.
A beautiful black X-T3 with the 18-55mm f2.8 kit lens.
A few weeks later I bought, during the same cashback deals, the 50-140mm f2.8 and the 100-400mm f 4.5-5.6.

In 2020 I bought the Fuji XF 35 mm F2 R WR and the Laowa 65 mm f2.8 Dreamer macro 2x

I have to say, the Nikon is somewhat neglected at the moment but I’m happy with everything I have right now!

Beside the Nikon and Fuji X-T3 cameras, I also have a Fuji X-30 camera.
A sweet small camera which I can take with me everywhere.

The other old school lenses.

I also have two lenses that only can be used with an adapter on both cameras.

  • ASAHI Pentax – Super-Takamura 55mm f/2.0
  • ASAHI Pentax – Super-Takamura 135mm f/3.5

Two lenses with an amazing dreamy result

Additional I have some other helpful gear as well:

  1. Rollei C9-i tripod.
  2. Godox flash gear (also for remote use).
  3. A Meike SL MK320 flash, which is perfect for macro photography.
  4. Some flash softbox-like add-ons
  5. Extension tubes to do some extra macro with other lenses like the Fuji XF 50-140 f/2.8 R LM OIS WR.
  6. Remote controls for both cameras.
  7. Manfrotto camera bag (large).
  8. Several lens filters.
  9. and the rest.

Quite some gear gathered the last 2 years, in my opinion.
Yes, I used them all and still do!

Post-processing

Lightroom and Capture One

For the post-processing of the photo’s, I use the Adobe Lightroom Classic CC and Photoshop CC.
I had to get used to it. It’s amazingly diverse for post-processing photo’s but after using it for 2 years it gives me the results I think are ok,

For the Fuji XT3 pictures, I used Capture One 12  for a while (for Fujifilm cameras)
Totally different in use than Lightroom from Adobe.
I needed to get used to it though but I went back to Lightroom in the end.
