Meeting in the forest after a long time

Meeting in the Forest

After a long time, I finally planned a meeting with some old friends in a small forest close by, the Loetbos. I needed a break after being attacked while making coffee 😉 Not sure they’d be home, though…

Walking into the forest with Yaz felt like coming home. For her too: she was down the track at top speed in record time. Well, at least my friends knew I was there 😄

Sunshine and noisy friends

What an amazing day! Lots of sunshine and flowers everywhere, like these pink Himalayan balsam blossoms glowing against the dark green of the forest. And in the background the sound of busy birds… my friends ☀️

The little creatures were out too. A Brimstone butterfly was having its own lunch on a thistle, its bright lemon-green wings almost blending in with the leaves 🦋

Meanwhile, Yaz was turning herself into a wet mud monster. As usual, she didn’t realise she’d have to go home again… in my car. Luckily there was still plenty of time to dry 🐾

And there they were

Then, finally, my friends showed up. First a little family of Long-tailed Tits: two youngsters sitting on a branch in the sun, keeping an eye on me while their parents went looking for food 🐦

They didn’t stay shy for long. Curious as they are, one of them came even closer to see who that guy with the big camera was 😄

A bit further on, a young Eurasian Blackcap popped up between the leaves. No black cap yet, that comes later, but already a little charmer. The Short-toed Treecreeper was there too, but way too quick for me this time.

It was a good meeting. I heard and saw many more birds, but couldn’t find them all, so I’ll have to go back soon. The sunlight was quite harsh, which made it a tricky day for photography, but I still came home with some nice shots 📸

Enjoy! ✨
