Bird Photography Highlights

What a few weeks it has been!

Where do I even start?! The past few weeks have been, absolutely incredible for bird photography. So much has happened that I can’t even remember everything I’ve seen and photographed — but I’ll give it a go. 😄

Yesterday was one of those unforgettable days. The absolute highlight? A European Honey Buzzard. I managed to spot and photograph it — that alone made my day.

But it didn’t stop there. A White-spotted Bluethroat showed beautifully, along with a Little Reed Warbler, Reed Bunting, and Sedge Warbler. Even a tiny mouse made an appearance — honestly, it deserved a mention too! 🐭

Somewhere deep in the reeds, I heard the unmistakable booming of a Eurasian Bittern. Did I see it? Of course not — that’s the Bittern for you. 😄

The Black Terns were fantastic to watch, gliding low over the water. No decent photos this time, but watching them alone was worth every minute.

Also passing in front of the lens: Greenfinch, Goldfinch, and Common Linnet. A great day all round!

The day before was just as special. I found a family of Long-eared Owls again — two adults with four fluffy youngsters sitting together in the trees. Incredible to witness.

After that, I moved on to a colony of Avocets with chicks. Elegant birds with tiny fluffballs following them — something I’ll never get tired of. Right next to them, I managed to photograph a Grasshopper Warbler as well. Happy days!

And then, last week — a White-winged Tern, captured on camera alongside a few Red-crested Pochards. I was especially pleased with those — proper wild birds this time, which makes it even more rewarding. You know the feeling. 😄

I’m sure I’ve forgotten a species or two along the way, but all in all — what a run it’s been. No complaints here!

Stay tuned — there’s always more to come. 📸
