Purpose of the Frisian Flag exercise.
The purpose of the Frisian Flag is to train pilots on cooperation. These kinds of international exercises make it possible for pilots and soldiers to act together in, among other things, difficult situations. Pilots in areas such as Libya, Afghanistan and Iraq were often confronted with a large coalition of power; exercises such as Frisian Flag are essential to be able to perform the procedures as well as possible.

Photo Albums

Photo Albums

On my site, I show a lot of photos in my Portfolio. But you can see lot more photos. Therefore I prepared a page with photo albums, to show you all the photo collections of the different events. Starting with the recent visit of the air force base Beauvechain.

The albums do not necessarily show a story. Most of the time it’s just a collection with the same subject but ordered in the time taken. So it gives a bit of story or timeline.

The subjects

Target is to have the photo albums show all kind of events, visits or other activities. Subjects will be wildlife, aviation, landscapes, sport or anything else. The sky is the limit, right?

Today I start with the visits of two air force bases.

  1. The first album will show Airforce base Leeuwarden during the military exercise 2018 Frisian Flag.
  2. The second album is from my visit at the Belgium Airforce base Beauvechain.

Go here for my photo albums page or follow the link in the menu at the top of the screen

What’s next?

As the photo albums page has been set up I’ll make the portfolios a bit smaller. In the next couple of weeks, I’ll sort that out.

2018 June 4, I’ll visit the large-scale APROC military exercise at Gilze Rijen Airforce base.
You can expect a series of photo’s of that soon in the photo albums.

Have a look at my portfolio as well.

Enjoy!!

Frisian Flag 2018, Large Scale Military Exercise.

From Sunday 8 April to Friday 20 April, Leeuwarden Air Base hosted the large-scale international exercise Frisian Flag 2018.

I had the opportunity to visit this major event in the north of our beautiful country on April 16th. An early start that morning and on my way to the spotter’s hill close to runway 05.
After parking my car it didn’t take long before the first wave took off.

Except for the Polish MIG-29 Fulcrum’s (2x) all countries took off, returning within an hour and a half.
After all, planes were back and safely landed we had a break for about an hour or so before the second wave started.

Well, at the end of the day the total clicks of my camera were up with a bit more than 3200 photos taken. (o my god… )
Anyway, I had a great day and it felt good to be back close to the base again.

For a first impression of the photos, have a look at my Portfolio under Aviation_Military.
I’ll add more soon after I have sorted them all… (which is still a lot)

Enjoy!!
