APROC stands for Air Centric Personal Recovery Operative Course.

The course is organized, each year, by a different host.
In this course, the main target is to rescue personnel that is in distress, in a hostile environment or much as enemy territory.

Different techniques for surviving and evading from possible hostile environments are being used.
Participants will face realistic conditions and circumstances.

At the EPRC website, (European Personnel Recovery Center) more information can be found on why, how and what.

Course Objective

The aim of this APROC 2018 course is to teach aircrew and extraction forces to work together. The focus of the course is especially in planning and executing recovery missions and using standardized procedures, terminology, and formats.

The trainees will learn how to plan and conduct complex Personal Recovery missions and therefore the focus will be primarily on processes and procedures.

The trainees will plan several tactical missions with increasing difficulties.
As a result, the trainees will experience a steady learning curve.
Therefore various threats will be simulated in order to create these required scenarios.

Photo Albums

Photo Albums

On my site, I show a lot of photos in my Portfolio. But you can see lot more photos. Therefore I prepared a page with photo albums, to show you all the photo collections of the different events. Starting with the recent visit of the air force base Beauvechain.

MIG-29 taking off, Frisian Flag 2018, Photo Albums, wildlife, aviation, landscapes, sport

Photo Albums.

The albums do not necessarily show a story. Most of the time it’s just a collection with the same subject but ordered in the time taken. So it gives a bit of story or timeline.

The subjects

Target is to have the photo albums show all kind of events, visits or other activities. Subjects will be wildlife, aviation, landscapes, sport or anything else. The sky is the limit, right?

Today I start with the visits of two air force bases.

  1. The first album will show Airforce base Leeuwarden during the military exercise 2018 Frisian Flag.
  2. The second album is from my visit at the Belgium Airforce base Beauvechain.

Go here for my photo albums page or follow the link in the menu at the top of the screen

What’s next?

As the photo albums page has been set up I’ll make the portfolios a bit smaller. In the next couple of weeks, I’ll sort that out.

2018 June 4, I’ll visit the large-scale APROC military exercise at Gilze Rijen Airforce base.
You can expect a series of photo’s of that soon in the photo albums.

Have a look at my portfolio as well.

Enjoy!!

Black and White in June

Black and White in June
Thumb up! Black and White

Black and White

After some nice streets events, and day trips with Edze, I had quite some pictures to sort out. Some of them looked awesome in Black & White.
So I thought, let’s post one black and white photo each day in June!

The subjects

I’d read some articles about street photography, just to find out what to take into account before trying anything.

If you’re interested in street photography I would advise you to do some reading on this subject. A lot of articles can be found on the internet.
Keep in mind, it’s not what you do photograph but more how and when, with regard to privacy etc.

You can find some articles on my Flipboard page, Photography Tips, which I have been reading.

Actually, it’s just a matter of doing, scan your surrounding constantly and you’ll start to see more scenes worth photographing.

During the cycling event, I took my time and stayed in one place for some time, just to see what was happening around me. Of course, there were the situations with objects or persons which were easy to catch (like the cyclists) Others I found a little bit more difficult because I was close by and was hoping they didn’t notice me, staring at them through my lens. Exciting!!

During the day trips with Edze, most of the time I did not have the opportunity. A kid jumping around, yelling for his dad to see or do this and that is a challenge on its own. It was a lot of fun though.

The results

After gathering a lot of images of all kind of subjects I was very pleased with the results.
I had given myself the opportunity to do this experiment and I loved it!

What’s next?

More Black and White photos will follow definitely.
Most of the photo’s where taken in the place where I’m living. A small village. So much to see.
Imagine what will happen in a big city like Rotterdam!
I’ll plan a visit soon! So keep an eye on this site to find out what will happen.

My portfolio has been updated already so if you can’t wait to see them, you’re welcome to have a look at my portfolio “Black & White”

Enjoy!!

In Memoriam

“In Memoriam”

Deze bezoekjes raakten me heel diep.

Alles heeft een reden - Everything has a reason
Alles heeft een reden – Everything has a reason

Respect vriend.

Always

Still to figure out a lot.
The SNAP auto poster is still a pain. It works but I need to get the different account setup correctly.

If you like to check out SNAP as a plugin on your site, take a look over here.
I have a lot of fun with it.

Visit Airbase Beauvechain and after that.

Visit Airbase Beauvechain and after that.

Yesterday, April 27, we had the opportunity to visit Airbase Beauvechain, close to Brussel. I had an early start with Hans Paul Hemelaar, my brother in crime. A report with photo’s of that visit will follow soon.

I heard a noise…

After that visit, we went to the Brussel Airport to do some photographing of the landing airliners. The site where we stopped was a plain piece of ground and it didn’t take long before I heard a noise… This was not the sound of a landing plane.

I heard already a lot of them and that they are not easy to shoot (photographing). But here it is. My first, Blue-headed Wagtail!!
Loving this…..

Frisian Flag 2018, Large Scale Military Exercise.

From Sunday 8 April to Friday 20 April, Leeuwarden Air Base hosted the large-scale international exercise Frisian Flag 2018.

I had the opportunity to visit this major event in the north of our beautiful country on April 16th. An early start that morning and on my way to the spotter’s hill close to runway 05.
After parking my car it didn’t take long before the first wave took off.

Except for the Polish MIG-29 Fulcrum’s (2x) all countries took off, returning within an hour and a half.
After all, planes were back and safely landed we had a break for about an hour or so before the second wave started.

Well, at the end of the day the total clicks of my camera were up with a bit more than 3200 photos taken. (o my god… )
Anyway, I had a great day and it felt good to be back close to the base again.

For a first impression of the photos, have a look at my Portfolio under Aviation_Military.
I’ll add more soon after I have sorted them all… (which is still a lot)

Enjoy!!

Portfolio Update

Portfolio Update

Had a busy week with two school events at Edze’s school.
One soccer tournament and one trip to the Zoo Diergaarde Blijdorp. I was totally down and out after these two days. Kids in the age of 8 – 9 years is a handful when trying to control them. Impossible!

At the Zoo the group got an education about camouflage in nature and what sorts of camouflage are used by animals. Have to say, learned some new things by myself as well.

And, a nice surprise was that there was a new family member born within the colobus monkeys.
See picture down below. It was a bit dark and behind glass, so quality is not that good, unfortunately.

What Else?

Anyway.
I have not yet posted pictures of both school events and the kids.  The school has the first pick of these 😉
But on the way to the Zoo and back to school, I made some pictures with my phone, one or two of them are posted in my Portfolio.

Galleries

Some more have been added to the galleries Wildlife_Birds and Wildlife_Birds of Prey.

What’s next?

Yes, Social media again.
I finished the Social Media.

Equipment used by ShiftyNL-photography

The Equipment

Having looked around on this site you might wonder what equipment I’m using.
Not that it’s important when you just like to see the photo’s on this site.
You just might not be interested in it.

Anyway, I like to tell a bit more about the hardware I use to get these results.
I also use Lightroom, Photoshop and some other nice plugin or standalone tools.

Therefore I added a page to the website to show you what I use.

New photo’s added to my Portfolio

New photo’s added on my site ShiftyNL-Photography.

Saturday, 2018-0407, I used my time to sort out all photo’s taken in 2016 en some from 2017.
Still, have loads to go through.
I re-edited some photo’s in Lightroom and Photoshop and added them to my Portfolio.

Look for them in Dogs, Wildlife_Birds, Wildlife_Mammals and Landscapes_Skylines.

In the Landscapes_Skylines a beautiful picture from the Overwaard windmills at Kinderdijk.

What else?

This week I have a football tournament and a school trip to the Zoo Blijdorp with my son Edze, which will probably add more photo’s to sort out 🙂

Yes, I have another Social Media channel. This time Pinterest.
Take a look over there. It’s nice.

What’s next?

Next week I’ll travel up north to visit the Frisian Flag 2018 and hope to get some new photo material from this event as well.

An update from this all will follow soon.

I’m also still working on the auto-post script.
It needs some scripting to have it all run smoothly.

Keep an eye out on this site because more will follow soon 😉
