Frisian Flag 2018, Large Scale Military Exercise.
Large Scale Military Exercise
From Sunday 8 April to Friday 20 April, Leeuwarden Air Base hosted the large-scale international exercise Frisian Flag 2018.
I had the opportunity to visit this major event in the north of our beautiful country on April 16th.
An early start that morning and on my way to the spotter’s hill close to runway 05.
After parking my car it didn’t take long before the first wave took off.

This exercise is meant to prepare military aviators, from different countries, to cooperate with each other during any conflict.
Due to the different languages from the different countries, this exercise is done to assure language will not give any problems during any cooperation.

Except for the Polish MIG-29 Fulcrum’s (2x) all countries took off, returning within an hour and a half.
After all, planes were back and safely landed we had a break for about an hour or so before the second wave started.

Well, at the end of the day the total clicks of my camera were up with a bit more up.
Altogether, I took more than 3200 photos. (o my god… )
Anyway, I had a great day and it felt good to be back close to the base again at the Frisian Flag 2018.
For a first impression of the photos, have a look at my Portfolio under Aviation or have a look at my album Aviation Military.
I’ll add more soon after I have sorted them all… (which is still a lot)
Enjoy!!
